  • Project Summary: Bandar abbas refinery was constructed in the 1990s and started its operation in 1997 with a nominal capacity of 232,000 bpsd to supply oil products to the domestic market and also to target export market. in 2008 the refinery capacity was increased to 320,000 bpsd, which accounts for about 15% of the oil refining capacity in i.r. of iran, by debottlenecking the crude distillation units, to cater for the increasing domestic demands. to improve bandar abbas oil refinery margin and produce added valued products, borc has decided, by utilizing the available heavy lube cut, produce grade ii and iii base oil at first phase in the next phase of the project, and taking into account the demand for higher quality finished products in the local and the international markets, borc will produce finished multi-grade lube oil, by using the produced grade ii and iii base oil. in line with contemporary key global market drivers for base oils and in support of complying with stringent local and international industry requirements for higher quality, performance and durable base oil, cope with increased constraint by environmental laws on wastes, as well as to sustain competitiveness in the downstream market, borc intend to realize group ii and ill base oils production complex project mainly consisting of hydrocraker, hydrodewaxing or isodewaxing and hydrotreating units. the feed to hydrocracker unit is about 15,000 bpsd with specified properties. for the present phase of the project, borc is willing to use collaboration and services of experienced and competent companies for the following activities of the group ii and ill base oils production complex project. a. license grant to baorc; the use of license rights, patent right, intellectual property rights, technical knowledge, know-how ,etc and technology transfer (subject to the terms and conditions set forth in an license agreement to be concluded and agreed upon). b. provision of basic design package and related services (subject to the terms and conditions set forth in an engineering agreement to be concluded and agreed upon) other phases of the said project up to epc or e pcf (to be determined) will be followed later. lube oil production units will be constructed inside existing refinery b.l. and all required utilities will be provided from the refinery resources.
